Root Canals

A root canal is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or becomes infected. During a root canal procedure, the nerve and pulp are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. Without treatment, the tissue surrounding the tooth will become infected and abscesses may form.

Reline

There are two different types of denture relines commonly available, hard relines and soft relines. Both types of relines can either be performed in office or chairside or by a dental laboratory; there are advantages and disadvantages to both methods. Since your mouth and the dental ridges change or shrink over time, a denture reline is necessary to keep your denture fitting well and to prevent your dental ridges from "dissolving" more rapidly.

 

Porcelain Crowns

Dental crowns are restorations that protect damaged, cracked or broken down teeth. A crown strengthens your existing, damaged tooth so as to preserve its functionality. Dental crowns are also commonly known as caps (because a crown sits over your existing tooth, covering the entire outer surface).

White and Yellow Crowns

All-metal crowns are exactly as their name implies. They are dental crowns whose entire thickness is made up of metal. The classic all-metal crown is the gold crown, although you will also see some metal crowns that are silver in color.

 

Porcelain Fillings

When most people think of a "filling", they imagine an item made out of some sort of material, either metal or plastic that is placed directly in a hole in a tooth, carved to resemble the original shape of the tooth, and then allowed to harden inside the hole to restore the form and function of the tooth.

Cleanings

Dental cleanings involve removing plaque (soft, sticky, bacteria infested film) and tartar (calculus) deposits that have built up on the teeth over time. Your teeth are continually bathed in saliva which contains calcium and other substances which help strengthen and protect the teeth.

 

Extractions

A dental extraction (also referred to as exodontia) is the removal of a tooth from the mouth. Extractions are performed for a wide variety of reasons, including tooth decay that has destroyed enough tooth structure to prevent restoration. Extractions of impacted or problematic wisdom teeth are routinely performed, as are extractions of some permanent teeth to make space for orthodontic treatment.

Porcelain Veneers

In dentistry, a veneer is a thin layer of restorative material placed over a tooth surface, either to improve the aesthetics of a tooth, or to protect a damaged tooth surface. There are two main types of material used to fabricate a veneer, composite and dental porcelain. A composite veneer may be directly placed (built-up in the mouth), or indirectly fabricated by a dental technician in a dental laboratory, and later bonded to the tooth, typically using a resin cement such as Panavia. In contrast, a porcelain veneer may only be indirectly fabricated.

 

Bonding

The dental bonding procedure utilizes a composite resin and is used for a variety of structural as well as cosmetic purposes. One can draw a parallel between dental bonding materials and a sculptor's clay. By using dental composite resin bonding your dentist can restore chipped or broken teeth, fill in gaps and reshape or recolor your smile.
